CHRIS 'CM' MURPHY
THE ORIGINAL SURFING COWBOY
Sugar Beach Ranch was the beloved home of Chris 'CM' Murphy, a music maverick, entrepreneur and visionary. Chris’ life was a colourful journey; being thrust into the music industry at a young age, through to his success in managing INXS to international stardom and beyond, his tenacity and vision unparalleled.
'One of the top music managers in the world'
INXS have sold over 100 million records worldwide, including number one album status across four different continents and have a performance history of some 4,000 live shows to over 25 million people. Including their sell out performance at Wembley Stadium in 1991 to 72,000 fans. In 2020 INXS were awarded the highest selling AUSTRALIAN album of the decade by ARIA, awarded Diamond Status and recently celebrated 4 billion streams.
Later in his life, after some 'fast lane’ living, Chris moved to his beloved Sugar Beach Ranch where he could indulge in his other passions of agriculture, training horses, racing pigeons and starting up an egg farming business, justifiably named Rock Chick Eggs.
He and the family would spend hours riding horses on the beach, splashing in the waves and living their best cowboy lives.
Chris has been called one of the top music managers in the world, but more than that, he was a man devoted to his friends and family, bringing the world seriously good music, food and entertainment. In 2014, Chris' amazing life-to-date was documented and published in the biography, 'MURPHY: The Making of CM Murphy'.
